Museum Bronbeek
Until the opening of the new permanent exhibition in 2010 the museum provides limited access and therefore entrance is free. Visit the website for up-to-date information. The history of the former colony of the Netherlands East Indies and its population is featured in the new permanent exhibition, which will be opened in the summer of 2010. The new exhibition focuses on the life of the first Dutchmen in the Indonesian archipelago. Visitors learn how the nineteenth century colonial government consolidated its authority with the help of the Royal Dutch East Indies Army (KNIL). Perhaps you will feel affected by the events during the Japanese occupation in the Second World War and the following years of decolonisation. You will also get an idea of the kind of welcome the hundreds of thousands of East Indian Dutchmen received in the Netherlands in the 1950s and 1960s.
