Landgoed Bronbeek
Despite many changes, Landgoed Bronbeek still conveys a mid-nineteenth century air. The white villa has remained unchanged since the reign of king William III, the last private resident, who left the property in 1859. Following his departure a stately home for veterans from the colonial army in the Netherlands East Indies was built on the former country estate. The men grew their own food in the park and kept cattle here. Their former farm has remained. The lawns between the old trees in the rural park are home to monuments that remind us of the Second World War in the Netherlands East Indies. The Bronbeek has been flowing through the ponds and waterfalls ever since.
