A day out in the country
A great base for lovely walks and bike rides, the Veluwezoom is the perfect place for a day out in the country. From time immemorial the magnificent area stretching from Renkum to Laag-Soeren has boasted many tourist attractions and a rich history. In May and June, when all the rhododendrons bloom, the area looks even more stunning.
A castle route by bike
The Betuwe area is perfect for bike rides, passing monumental farms, orchards, old mills, churches, villages and fortified towns. You’ll no doubt go along - or across - the Linge, the longest river in the Netherlands.
De Gelderse Poort is a popular destination for those seeking peace and quite or wanting to pursue outdoor activities. Kasteel Doornenburg, one of the biggest and best preserved castles in this country, is well worth a visit.
Water sports
The Land van Maas en Waal is contained by the rivers Maas and Waal, providing plenty of opportunity to enjoy a wide range of water sports. To the south lies De Gouden Ham recreation area, a nice place to spend some time in or by the lake. Modern conservation has given the river more space and freedom here, creating one of the biggest and most rugged areas of natural beauty in the Netherlands.

De Liemers is an unfamiliar, but fortunately not unpopular, part of the Netherlands. Visitors cannot wait to come back here. De Panoven recreation area, a place well worth a visit, has the honour of being the first Dutch brick and roof tile museum. Between 1860 and 1983 bricks were baked here according to traditional methods. Visitors can bake their own bricks here!
